Join us to celebrate Holy Week and Easter at CUMC

  • Passion/Palm Sunday: Palm Sunday is Sunday, April 13. The beginning of Holy Week, Palm Sunday is the day we remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on the back of a donkey. It is the beginning of Holy Week. Our Passion/Palm Sunday service starts at 10am in the sanctuary and will be live streamed. This is a Tenebrae service, a somber service that concludes in silence.

  • Maundy Thursday: Our Maundy Thursday service starts at 7pm on Thursday, April 17 in the chapel. This is our traditional hand washing and communion service.

  • Maundy Thursday Vigil: The Vigil will be held in the chapel from 8pm Maundy Thursday (4/17) until 7pm Good Friday (4/18). For 24 hours we take shifts keeping vigil in the chapel. Sign up online here or sign up Sunday mornings in the narthex.

  • Easter Egg Hunt: The Social Hall will be hopping with activity at 10am Saturday morning, April 19. All children of the community are welcome. We will have activities, crafts, and snacks from 10 to 10:45 followed by the egg hunt at 10:45.

  • Easter Services: Join together with your church family to celebrate Easter. We will offer two services: 6:15am Sunrise Service at the cemetery on Miramontes Street and 10am Worship in the sanctuary. Come for worship and stay for fellowship. Please join us for a light Easter Breakfast with your church family following both services.

Ways to GET INVOLVED:

  • Easter flowers: We continue our tradition of donating blooming spring plants in memory or in honor of loved ones. The plants will decorate the sanctuary Easter morning. There are 2 easy ways to donate a plant: pick up an envelope in the narthex or use the online form. The price is $10 per plant. On the order form please be sure to indicate who you are honoring with your donation. Order by March 25.

  • Palm Crosses: Come to church on Palm Sunday and receive a palm cross. These crosses are handmade in Tanzania by an organization called Africa Palms USA. All the funds raised go to clean water, medical, and educational facilities in the villages of Tanzania. We have supported this project for well over twenty years.

  • Floral Cross: We will be setting up our floral cross in the courtyard between the chapel and the sanctuary. On Easter Sunday bring some cut flowers to add the cross, and be a part of one of CUMC’s long standing traditions. After church, enjoy the floral cross as a beautiful backdrop for family pictures.

  • Join the Easter Hospitality team. Volunteers are needed to help prep, serve and clean up for the Easter Breakfast. Contact office@hmbcumc.org to help out.

Invite friends and family to join you on Easter! Come join in person or watch on live stream.
